Nutrition
Nutrition is simple, yet not usually easy. Not easy because we get into habits & we don’t usually like change, especially with food and drink.
To make these “Bits” of advice usable, write them down or start a note collection on your phone and check them off as you shop and when you have success at home. It takes time to integrate new habits, so be patient, and I am so proud of any and all progress you make!
Berry Bits – Nutrition
Antioxidants
The Ningxia Red juice is the highest recorded antioxidant drink on the market to date. The gogi/wolfberries in this drink are from the Young Living farm in China that has a climate, soil and water supply that produce a highly nutritious berry. Antioxidants are important because they neutralize free radicals in our body that build up from pollutants in our environment and food and water. Here is an article on what to eat to increase antioxidants.
Organic & Non-GMO Food
Chemicals bog our body down. It’s great to know that Trader Joe’s and Aldi’s do not allow GMOs in their stores. GMOs are not allowed in Europe because they are not natural and use pesticides that allows farmers more crop for less cost. We all need to support farmers to grow plants using natural methods by buying organic.
Minimize dairy, sugar, and gluten. Focus on organic fruits, vegetables, and protein.
Grass Fed Meats and Dairy
Why? The grains create inflammation which leads to joint pain and body dysfunction. The meat and dairy will also have greater nutrition when the animal eats greens, like us! Avoid Farm Raised Fish unless you know the farm personally. Most of these farm keep the water clean with harsh chemicals, which affect the fish. Buy wild caught.
Canola and Soy Oil
Never buy Canola or Soy oil, sometimes called ‘vegetable’ oil. Only virgin or regular olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, walnut oil. Fry with avocado or coconut oil (there are brands that are highly filtered and don’t have a coconut taste) that have higher ‘smoke’ points. Use olive oil only at low temperature cooking and raw, like in salad dressings.
Vitamin C
We need lots more vitamin C a day than FDA recommends. Take at least 2-3,000 mg (2-3 grams) per day, ideally spread out during day. Vitamin C ‘knits’ together our blood vessels to keep them strong. Heart issues and strokes are number one killers. We also need Fish Oil daily! This ‘feeds’ our vessels. I prefer Young Living or Nordic Naturals.
Hydrate with Water
Drink half your body weight in ounces per day. I fill glass bottles or jugs with the amount I need per day and then I have a visual on how much to drink.
Tap water is not great, so buy a filter system. They range from under $50 to $5,000. Something is better than nothing. Filters for your shower head are great as well.
Drink a glass of room temperature water first thing in the morning that will help the body cleanse. Use a drop or two of any Young Living citrus oil in a glass of water. This supports cellular cleansing. Only use glass or ceramic or steel cups because the powerful oils will detox the plastic into your water.
