Berry Best Oil Tips
Tip #1:
Numero Uno, The most crucial aspect of using essential oils:
Be certain the company has high standards.
For this reason, the oils I recommend are from Young Living. They have a Seed to Seal guarantee and extensive testing of each batch of oils prior to being bottled, and then tested again after bottling. Without quality oils, the results you expect and receive will be diminished at best, and have negative consequences, at worst.
Tip #2:
Where to begin?
I recommend the app Reference Guide to Essential Oils. At $6.99; it has a guide, charts on where to put oils, and information on single and blends from Young Living. A good deal, and very useful. It will not have as much research as the book though, if that is what you want.
Do you want to feel like your at a spa and have fun with them right away? Great, even before reading a thing you can open a bottle of lavender/Stress Away/ or Peace and Calming, drop 2-3 drops into your hand, gently rub your hands together in a circle (this ‘opens’ up the oil), and make a ‘scent tent’ with your hands by cupping them together. Hold your ‘tent’ up to your nose and take in several deep breaths. You are supporting the deepest of connections, oil molecules breathed into the brain, which in turn affects the body. The ability of essential oils to act on both the mind and the body is what makes them truly unique among natural therapies.
Are you most interested in helping yourself or others feel better? Start with downloading the app , and click on ‘Guide’. Type in at the top what it is you would like help with. You will be led to the top oils for each area you would like to support with oils.
Tip #3:
Keep your oils and place your diffusers where you hang out the most. The best results occur when the oils become a part of your lifestyle.
If you keep your oils in a drawer, or in the box, the likelihood you will use them is less.
The Premium Starter Kit oils come in a container of 10 that stands up! Nice! I recommend putting that holder in the kitchen. Place the other two bottles either next to your bed, in your car, or by your desk.
Tip #4:
Slow and Low if you are new to natural products or high quality oils.
Slow means only 2-4 drops in the diffuser for a few days; only 2-4 drops internally (Vitality Oils, white labels) also.
Low means, instead of putting the oils on your neck/shoulders/base of skull/forehead/chest (all great places) several times a day, put the oils on your FEET at first for a few days or weeks. You will receive the benefit, without having to also smell the oils which can cause detox effects occasionally (headache).
Tip #5:
Dilute oil with oil.
Have you ever heard the saying, ‘Oil and water don’t mix’? They don’t, so when you want to dilute an essential oil, you dilute with an oil.
NOT another essential oil, but with a FATTY oil, like olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil, or cream.
When would you need to dilute? When the oil is too ‘hot’ on your skin, and your skin has a burning sensation.
Also, if by accident you touch your eye, and it burns because you accidentally got an oil on it, put a little fatty oil on a fingertip and lightly touch the place on the eye that is burning. Touch until you feel better. Water does NOT dilute essential oils, it actually drives in the molecules more deeply.
